Just as you’re finishing up with the last of the prisoners, Colossus shows up, clearing his throat and carrying Natasha in his arms.

He’s a good guy. You like him, even though he’s one of the X-Men, so as you’re calling down a sling from the chopper, you say, “Thanks, Peter.” (Colossus appreciates being called by his real name. You found that out a few missions ago, and you’ve tried not to forget it since.)

Wolverine shows up next, muttering something to you about ‘incompetent kids with bows and arrows,’ and you mutter something back about ‘guys who don’t know how to clip their nails,’ and it could get nasty, but Scott Summers is giving you both a vaguely-threatening look from behind his visor, so you let it drop.

            All that matters is that everyone’s okay.

“And that you owe me your soul now,” Logan adds.

“Yeah, sure, whatever,” you reply.

            It’s a small price to pay.
